Chirk threw away a 2 goal lead to let Corwen draw level after 90 minutes and eventually win the tie on penalties.
Chirk had won twice at Memorial Park already this season but knew Corwen would be a tough nut to crack this time round.
Chirk had the worst possible start when Centre back Matty Williams was controversially shown red in the first minute for a high challenge.
However this did not deter The Colliers and they went ahead on 23 minutes through leading scorer Matty Thomas
Jack Edwards increased the away teams lead on 71 minutes and it looked like Chirk were going through.
However Corwen had other ideas and with Chirk tiring, substitute Andy Roberts pulled a goal back on 74 minutes and Chirk were reeling. The comeback was complete when centre back Harry Poole hit the equaliser in the 84th minute.
The game finished level and went straight to penalties
Both teams scored their first 5 penalties, so it went to sudden death. Corwen converted and their keeper, former Wrexham goalkeeper Dave Walsh, became their hero when he saved Harry Jones spot Kick to send the home side through.
Good luck to Corwen in the next round.
