Ardal Northern Leagues (North East)
Four Crosses 1 Chirk AAA 2
Close game at Foxen Manor.
Four Crosses shocked Chirk early on with Ben Wilson chipping the ball over
Callum Thurnham in the Chirk goal only to see the ball bounce and hit the bar.
Chirk were dealt a blow on 17 minutes when defender
Matty Williams had to leave the field of play after sustaining a hip injury being replaced by
Tom Roberts. Chirk took the lead on twenty minutes after good work from both
Harry Jones & Alistair Gibson left
Lewis Clamp with an easy tap in. Chirk dominated possession but Crosses defended stubbornly, superbly marshalled by Jeremy Jordan and restricted Chirk to few chances.
The second half saw
Jake Simms and Harry Jones getting through down Chirks left and it was from one of these runs that Harry Jones was brought down in the box on 60 minutes but unfortunately
Matty Thomas struck the resulting penalty against the bar and to safety.
Chirk introduced new signing Jake Jones, their new signing from Llangefni Town on the hour replacing full back Will Evans. Jones showed some good touches during his short cameo and looks like he will be a big asset to Chirks squad.
Completely against the run of play Four Crosses equalised on 80 minutes through a header from substitute Gareth Jones.
Chirk looked nervy but Alistair Gibson scored a late penalty on 82 minutes to secure the points for The Colliers after Harry Jones was brought down again in the box.
Not a vintage performance from Chirk but another 3 points on the board to take us back to top of the table winning our opening 5 games.
We welcome Welshpool Town to Holyhead Road on Sunday with a 2.30pm kick off
