Round 2
CHIRK AAA 1 BALA TOWN 6
Bala, last seasons losing semi finalists, showed their class with a comfortable win at Holyhead Road this afternoon.
They showed their intent within a couple of minutes when former Wrexham player Paul Rutherford slipped down the right before delivering an inch perfect cross for ex Welsh International Dave Edwards to arrive late and head past Mark Richards in the Chirk goal.
It was Rutherford again on 14 minutes that provided the assist when Lassana Mendes put Bala further ahead from close range.
Chirk lost centre back Caleb Davies on 40 minutes through heat exhaustion on a very warm day and Edwards scored his second in first half injury time when he curled a great free kick from 25 yards over the wall giving Richards no chance in the Chirk goal.
0-3 at half time
Bala went 4 up on 50 minutes through new signing George Newell before substitute Luke Wall made it five on 63 minutes.
Chirk battled all game and to their credit pulled a goal back on 67 minutes when Jack Edwards set up Steff Rogers and he scored on the second attempt slotting past Ramsay in the Bala goal.
It was no more than the home side had deserved as they had competed all game but Bala comfirmed their superiority when the scored their 6th goal on 84 minutes through Ross White.
There was a good crowd of approx 230 in attendance.
Chirk would like to thank the Bala medical team for their assistance in attending to our player Caleb Davies during the first half, much appreciated👍👏
Good luck to Bala in the next round.
