Chirk narrowly lost in the battle of the
Ardal Northern Leagues Champions at Alyn Park with a 2nd minute goal from Sion McHugh separating the sides at full time.
Mold started strongly and it was from a Danny Warren corner in the opening minutes that McHugh headed in from close range to give the Alex an early lead.
Although Chirk got back into the game and had most possession, they never really created any chances in the first half.
The second period saw much of the same but Mold looked the more dangerous and went close on several occasions.
Both sides went looking for goals in the last 10 minutes and it brought an exciting end to the game with Chirk looking for the equaliser and Mold hitting Chirk on the break.
However there was no further score and Chirk came home pointless.
