Chirk fall in first Cymru North game

JD Cymru Leagues (Cymru North)

CHIRK AAA 0 BUCKLEY TOWN 1

The start of the Cymru North programme saw Chirk lose out to visitors Buckley Town after a close encounter at Holyhead Road last night in front of a good crowd..

It was Buckley who took the early initiative and they went ahead after just 13 minutes with striker Jake Roberts scoring the all important goal after a scramble in the Chirk penalty box.

The Bucks piled on the pressure and it took an amazing double save from keeper Oliver James Farebrother to keep the score down.

At the other end Dale Davies saw his header brilliantly saved by Ryan Goldston to keep his side ahead.

Farebrother was again called into action just before the break when he pulled off another great stop to keep the scoreline at 0-1 at the break.

Chirk started the second period well with both Josh Evans and Josh Phillips controlling the midfield but Chirk were struggling to break down the stubborn Buckley defence and no real chances fell to either side until late in the game.

Steff Rogers broke free down Chirks right and his fine low cross evaded everyone and was grasped on the line by the greatful Goldston.

Buckley held on and went on to claim all 3 points. Chirk played well but couldn't get that equalising goal which they probably deserved.

No game next weekend. Next up is a midweek trip to Porthmadog on Tuesday 8th August with a 7 30pm kick off.

Final Result

Chirk AAA 0-1 BUCKLEY TOWN
