PORTHMADOG 4 CHIRK AAA 1
Testing night for The Colliers on the Gwynedd coastal town of Porthmadog.
It was pretty even in the opening play with Port dominating possession but Chirk more than holding their own and looking dangerous on the break.
Chances were limited for both sides with former Llandudno pair Shaun Cavanagh & Danny Brookwell looking dangerous for Port and Dale Davies & Max Mclaughlin always a threat for The Colliers.
Port went ahead on 27 minutes when Tom Mahoney done well down the left before crossing for Captain Cai Jones to eventually tap in after a goalmouth scramble.
Chirk responded well and were unlucky not to draw level on the stroke of half time when Max Mclaughlin beat 2 defenders before blasting over from a good position.
1-0 half time
Disaster struck for Chirk minutes into the second period when keeper Oliver James Farebrother was shown red when he misjudged a through ball and handled outside the area. Josh Phillips took over the gloves.
Minutes later Danny Brookwell gave Phillips no chance when he fired home in the corner to put the home side 2 goals up.
Chirk, to their credit, refused to lie down and responded with a quick goal. Dale Davies did well down the left before setting up Mclaughlin to fire home from close range.
Chirk began to tire and Port took advantage of the extra man and put Chirk to the sword late on creating many chances with another former Llandudno man Telor Williams notching 2 late goals to give the Port a comfortable win.
A tough night for Chirk but they were not disgraced and gave Port a good game. Back to Holyhead Road now for a crucial game against Llanidloes on Sunday with a 2.30pm kick off.
Oli Farebrother will miss out with a one match ban but both Ryan Williams and Jack Edwards return after missing last nights defeat.
