Chirk opened up the league campaign with a slender win over the young, enthusiastic Bricky team that gave as good as they got for most of the game in an even contest.
Chirk took the lead after just 2 minutes.
Asa Riley ran at the Bricky defence on Chirks right only to be fouled. From the resulting free kick, the ball wasn’t cleared and defender
Steve Roberts fired in from 10 yards.
It
didn’t take long for Bricky to equalise with striker Oscar Egerton firing home a good goal on the break.
Both teams laboured for the remainder of the half and it was the introduction of substitute
Harvey Edwards at half time that changed the game when he ran through on 57 minutes to confidently score past Bricky keeper James McHugh. The goal was enough to give The Colliers the points and a great start to the season.
